Ramadan death toll Middle Eastern round-up, Sat 28th July, 2012

(Syria) A 6-year-old boy, who was with his family as they crossed the border into Jordan, was shot dead by Syrian guards as they took out their anger on people who were running away from war.

(Jordan) A Jordanian man, angry that his divorced sister had a child out of wedlock, decided to avenge his honour 'Allah style'. So he stabbed her a number of times before throwing her out into the street. While she lay there mortally wounded, he got into his car and drove over her until he was sure she was dead. He then handed himself to the police, playing the Islamic get-out-of-jail card which is, 'I cleansed my family honour'.

Elsewhere in the world, you would get into a lit of trouble for killing somebody. But under the mores of Islam, killing for 'honour' is an acceptable past-time. Which is why this is the third such killing to have hit Jordan in a week.

(Yemen) Terrorists in Yemen handed a booby trapped parcel to 14-year-old Ali Dahab to hand over to his father. However, the poor child was blown to bits when the bomb prematurely exploded.

(Iraq) A bomb explosion in Fallujah saw 2 policemen killed and 11 others wounded. Another, targeting a police chief to the east of the city, saw 2 of his bodyguards murdered.

(Gaza) Mousa Harara, 35, was killed in a fight between families in the Shajayeh neighborhood of Gaza City, locals told Ma'an. Harara was a former PA official and Fatah member.

Ramadan death count moves up to 1,030.
